YKK CHC-26 Lightweight Invisible Zips – Delicate Concealed Finish
The professional’s choice for lightweight fabrics: The YKK CHC-26 Concealed Zipper.
The CHC-26 is a finer, more flexible invisible zip designed for garments where discretion and a soft drape are essential. Because it uses a smaller 2mm nylon coil (2CC), it sits flatter against the body and integrates seamlessly into delicate fabrics without adding weight or stiffness. It is the gold standard for bridal veils, silk blouses, summer dresses, and lightweight occasion wear.
Key Features of Invisible CHC-26 (Lightweight) Zips:
- Ultra-Slim Profile: Features a 2mm (2CC) nylon coil that is significantly finer than standard invisible zips, preventing the “bulging” effect on thin fabrics.
- Featherlight Tape: The polyester tape is soft and flexible, ensuring the zipper moves with the garment rather than fighting against it.
- Seamless Integration: Once installed, the zipper is entirely hidden within the seam, providing a high-end, bespoke aesthetic.
- Precision Engineering: YKK quality with a teardrop-shaped pull and a smooth, snag-free sliding mechanism.

Installation Guide: Working with Fine Fabrics
- Support the Seam: Lightweight fabrics are prone to puckering. Apply a narrow strip of lightweight fusible stay tape to the seam allowance before pinning the zip.
- The “Roll” Technique: Invisible zipper teeth are naturally rolled inward. Before sewing, use a low-heat iron to gently roll the teeth outward so the needle can stitch as close to the coil as possible.
- Positioning: Pin the zipper tape to the right side of the fabric. Ensure the zipper pull is facing down toward the fabric face.
- Stitching: Use an Invisible Zipper Foot. Place the teeth in the left or right groove of the foot. The foot will automatically unroll the teeth as you sew for a tight, professional finish.
- Finishing the Seam: Switch to a standard zipper foot to sew the remaining seam below the zipper tail.
