Great British Sewing Bee 2023: The Release Date is Here!

The Great British Sewing Bee 2023 release date is here!

We were so excited last night to read that the Sewing Bee will be back on our screens on Wednesday 24 May.

Now we have the official release date we’re counting down the days until we can see who the next sewists are, and what they’ll be making in the challenges.

Check out our recent article on the Sewing Bee for an overview of the programme, and what sort of projects they get up to on the show.

When and where to watch

The new series of The Great British Sewing Bee starts on Wednesday 24 May at 9PM on BBC 1. You can can also catch up on BBC iPlayer when it suits you.

Sara Pascoe is returning as the show host, welcoming 12 sewists to the Sewing Bee location in Leeds.

The BBC’s site says “Judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young want to see how the newbies deal with ‘Classics with a Twist’. For their first Pattern Challenge, the sewers make a top with a twist at its centre, which is a straightforward construction with a tricky brain-teaser.”

They’ve also shared what one of the first challenges will be, “for the 90-minute Transformation Challenge, they take the office uniform – a pencil skirt and blouse – and give it their own personal twist to reflect their style”.

We also know that the Made to Measure will feature a dress with cut-out details, which the sewists will need to fit perfectly to their models. We’re intrigued!

What we’ve got planned

We’re going to be following the series closely, and we’re looking forward to sharing our thoughts on each episode and the challenges the sewists face.

We’ll also be sharing some mini projects and skills to help you sew along with the series!
