This makeshift protective face mask is merely a textile barrier exclusively for private use, which can be placed in front of the mouth and nose, but is not intended or suitable for the prevention of diseases. The temporary mask is expressly not a medical device or medical protective equipment. The temporary mask is not to be confused with a medical mouth-and-nose protection and offers no medical effect, in particular no filter effect and no self-protection against the penetration of pathogens, such as coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. According to the current opinion of the Robert Koch Institute, the preventive application of a textile barrier can possibly be useful in order to reduce possible risks for other people by keeping back as many droplets as possible, for example when coughing or sneezing. However, it is important to note that the temporary mask must not be worn or changed if it becomes soaked through and that no (unconscious) manipulation is made to it while it is being worn. According to the latest information from the Robert Koch Institute, the most important and effective measures for protecting the population against infection with respiratory pathogens (including coronavirus SARS-CoV-2) are good hand hygiene, adherence to rules for coughing and sneezing and keeping a distance (approx. 1.5 to 2 metres) from persons suspected of being ill. Under no circumstances should wearing the temporary mask lead to neglecting these measures.

The use of the temporary mask is your own responsibility. The temporary mask has not been specifically tested with regard to specific users or a particular purpose. Before you decide to wear a temporary mask, you should seek medical advice if necessary and follow the current information available from expert sources (Robert Koch Institute or the WHO). Please inform yourself regularly about the current recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute!
