Our shop at 520 Kingsland Road will close from Thursday 24th December & reopen Monday 4th January 2021.
Final online orders for the year will be despatched on Tuesday 22nd December, though we will be delivering in the London area on this day too.
PLEASE NOTE: During the holidays, online orders can be made but will only be despatched from Monday 4th January 2021.
Dear customers, suppliers & friends,
As we come to the end of an extraordinary year, all that remains is to thank you for your support and custom throughout 2020.
This year there was no avoiding the pandemic, and when it hit, we worked tirelessly (I cannot stress that enough!) despatching your orders, with over 90% of online orders delivered within 2 working days – so you in turn could continue to operate as smoothly as possible.
Supplies for the construction of face coverings (flat & round elastics, as well as non-woven interfacings such as L11 & M12) were purchased directly in our online shop, and many of you used these products to provide for your families, NHS staff, carers and communities throughout the UK. We were (and still are!) extremely proud of you all.
Many of you adapted to lockdown in incredible style and we considered you guys the nation’s unsung heroes – small production houses, costume designers, dressmaking students, tailors, bridal wear designers and sewing hobbyists – you all collaborated for the greater good of the NHS and this country.
As a result, there were growing demands for new crafting & sewing products, and we added many new supplies to our range – both online and in-store – and we hope that we can continue to supply fantastic products for you at competitive prices in 2021.
New products included our very own Tulipwood Tailor’s Clapper and a new eco-friendly sewing range as we know many of you are embracing sustainable products and methods. To this end we have drastically reduced our use of plastic bags and now use paper bags, and our packaging uses recycled cartons where possible.
New products in 2020 include Multicoloured Threads, Tailor’s Canvases, Moon Colour Palettes and Velvet Ribbons, as well as branded products from the likes of Prym’s haberdashery, Vilene’s Interfacings and Fiskar’s cutting equipment.
Our loyalty points scheme is still working well, where customers are instantly rewarded for shopping with us online. It’s a great way to save on your entire bill if you plan on shopping with us regularly.
The biggest achievement this year was our continued promise to keep prices down. We do everything we possibly can to ensure your costs are as low as possible, whilst not compromising on service. Speaking of which, we managed to keep to a next-day delivery service of over 95% on our orders, which we are extremely proud of!
We continued developing our mobile site, improved our checkout process and gave our shop windows- and warehouse- a revamp to ensure that you enjoy coming into William Gee and getting a close-up feel of the products you love.
